Automated Ramp Department Budget Overrun Alerts

Every morning, WebRun opens Ramp, checks each department's month-to-date spend against its configured budget, identifies any department that has crossed your warning threshold (e.g., 80%) or is already over budget, logs the status in a Google Sheet, and posts same-day alerts to Slack so budget owners can act before the month ends.

In short

How do I get automatic alerts when Ramp department budgets are running over?

WebRun checks every Ramp department's spend versus budget each morning, flags departments that have crossed your warning threshold or exceeded their limit, logs the daily status in Google Sheets, and posts same-day alerts to Slack. Budget owners get the information they need to act before the month ends, not after.

  • Budget overruns caught same day, not at month-end review
  • Budget owners get spend percentage and days remaining in each alert
  • Google Sheet builds a daily trend of every department's budget burn rate

Questions, answered

Will it freeze or reduce card limits when a budget is exceeded?

No. WebRun alerts your team but does not change card limits or block spend. Adjusting Ramp card limits or budgets is a human action taken in Ramp after reviewing the alert.

What is the default warning threshold?

The default is 80% of budget, which gives most teams enough time to act before month-end. You can set a different threshold per department during setup.

Does it alert on every run once a department is over budget?

Yes. A department that stays over budget will appear in the Slack alert every morning until it is resolved, so the issue cannot be ignored. You can suppress repeat alerts for specific departments in the settings.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
