Automated Ancestry Tree Source Audit

Every Monday, WebRun opens your Ancestry family tree, works through the people in it, finds those whose names, dates, or places have no record attached, cards each one in Trello with any waiting hint, and sends you the count on WhatsApp so the tree can be trusted before it is shared.

In short

How do I find people in my family tree with no sources attached?

Every Monday, WebRun opens your Ancestry family tree, walks through the people in it, and finds the ones whose names, dates, or places rest on no attached source. It cards each unsourced person in Trello and sends you the count on WhatsApp, so the tree can be trusted before you share it.

  • Unsupported dates are found before the tree is shared with family
  • Direct ancestors are always ranked above distant relatives
  • Every card names the exact fact that needs a record

Built for genealogists · family historians · research groups · hobby researchers

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens www.ancestry.com/account/signin in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
Ancestry - audit the tree for missing sources
    ancestry.com
WebRun in Ancestry: audit the tree for missing sources
WebRun opens Ancestry to audit the tree for missing sources.
    • Sign into Ancestry and open the family tree you are researching
    • Work through the people in the tree and check how many records are attached to each
    • Flag anyone with a birth, marriage, or death date and no source supporting it
    • Flag people with a place of birth or death that no attached record confirms
    • Note whether Ancestry is showing a waiting hint for each unsourced person
    • Rank by how close the person sits to you in the tree, so direct ancestors come first

Done when Every person with an unsupported name, date, or place is listed with any waiting hint.

  3. 2
Trello - card each unsourced person
    trello.com
WebRun in Trello: card each unsourced person
WebRun opens Trello to card each unsourced person.
    • Open a Trello card for each unsourced person on your research board
    • Put the name, the years, and exactly which fact lacks a source in the card
    • Note any waiting hint that might supply the record, with a link to the person
    • Order the board so direct ancestors sit above cousins and in-laws
    • Leave the attaching to you. WebRun never attaches a record, edits a fact, or merges a person in your tree

Done when Every unsourced person has a Trello card naming the fact that needs a record.

  4. 3
WhatsApp - send you this week's count
    whatsapp.com
WebRun in WhatsApp: send you this week's count
WebRun opens WhatsApp to send you this week's count.
    • Send yourself a few lines: how many people are unsourced and how many sit on your direct line
    • Name the direct ancestor with the weakest evidence this week
    • Keep it short enough to read on a phone

Done when You know this week's unsourced count without opening the tree.

Questions, answered

Will it attach records or accept hints for me?

No. WebRun never attaches a record, accepts a hint, edits a fact, or merges a person. It reports which facts lack evidence and you decide what belongs in your tree.

How does it decide what counts as unsourced?

A birth, marriage, or death date, or a place, with no attached record supporting it. Each Trello card names the exact fact rather than just the person.

Does it share my tree with anyone?

No. The audit goes to your own Trello board and your own WhatsApp. Nothing about living relatives is published, and the tree itself is never made public by WebRun.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
