Automated GoDaddy DNS Change Monitoring

Every night, WebRun signs in to GoDaddy, opens the DNS zone for each domain you own, records the nameservers and every A, CNAME, MX and TXT record, compares them with last night's snapshot, opens a Trello card for each change, and messages you on WhatsApp when a mail or verification record moved.

In short

How do I get alerted when a DNS record changes on my domain?

WebRun snapshots your GoDaddy DNS every night. It opens the zone for each domain you own, records the nameservers and every A, CNAME, MX and TXT record, compares them against last night, opens a Trello card per change, and messages you on WhatsApp when a mail record moves.

  • A wrong mail record surfaces the same night, before mail bounces
  • Every zone change has a card with its before and after values
  • Nothing is edited automatically: WebRun reports, a person fixes

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens sso.godaddy.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
GoDaddy - snapshot every DNS zone
    godaddy.com
WebRun in GoDaddy: snapshot every DNS zone
WebRun opens GoDaddy to snapshot every DNS zone.
    • Sign in to GoDaddy and open the domain list
    • Open the DNS zone for each domain and read every record: A, CNAME, MX, TXT, and the nameservers
    • Compare each record against last night's snapshot
    • List every record added, removed, or changed, with its old and new value

Done when Every domain has a fresh snapshot and a list of what changed since last night.

  3. 2
Trello - card each record change
    trello.com
WebRun in Trello: card each record change
WebRun opens Trello to card each record change.
    • Open a Trello card for each changed record with the domain, record type, old value, and new value
    • Group the night's cards under one dated list
    • Mark cards for MX, TXT, and nameserver changes as high priority
    • Never edit a record: WebRun reads the zone and reports, a person makes the fix

Done when Every change from tonight has a card with its before and after values.

  4. 3
WhatsApp - flag mail record moves
    whatsapp.com
WebRun in WhatsApp: flag mail record moves
WebRun opens WhatsApp to flag mail record moves.
    • Message your own operations chat when a mail or verification record changed
    • Name the domain, the record type, and the value it moved to
    • Stay quiet on nights when nothing changed

Done when You have been told about any mail-affecting change, or nothing was sent because nothing moved.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Can it change my DNS records?

No. WebRun only reads each zone and reports what moved. Every fix is a Trello card for a person to action, so no record is edited, added, or removed on its own.

What counts as a change worth waking me for?

Mail and verification records. MX, SPF and DKIM TXT records, and nameserver changes get a WhatsApp message the same night, because those are what break mail delivery before anyone notices.

What happens on the very first run?

The first night just records a baseline snapshot of every zone with no change cards. From the second night onward, every run compares against the previous one and reports the difference.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
