Automated Evernote Unfiled Note Cleanup

Every Monday, WebRun opens Evernote, finds the notes still sitting in your default notebook with no tags, reads enough of each to suggest a notebook and a tag, writes the suggestions to Airtable for you to confirm, and sends the short list to you on WhatsApp.

In short

How do I clean up the unfiled notes in my Evernote default notebook?

WebRun opens Evernote every Monday and finds the notes still sitting in your default notebook or carrying no tags. It reads each one, suggests a notebook and tag from your existing structure, writes the suggestions to Airtable for you to confirm, and sends the short list on WhatsApp, so search keeps working.

  • Loose notes get filed weekly instead of piling up for years
  • Search keeps working as the account grows
  • Filing is a confirm step, not a re-read of every note

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens www.evernote.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
Evernote - find the unfiled notes
    evernote.com
WebRun in Evernote: find the unfiled notes
WebRun opens Evernote to find the unfiled notes.
    • Open Evernote and list the notes still in your default notebook
    • Include any note anywhere in the account that carries no tags
    • Capture the title, created date, and the first lines of each note
    • Note which ones are web clips, since those usually file differently

Done when Every unfiled or untagged note is listed with its title, date, and opening lines.

  3. 2
Airtable - suggest a notebook and tag
    airtable.com
WebRun in Airtable: suggest a notebook and tag
WebRun opens Airtable to suggest a notebook and tag.
    • Append one row per loose note to your filing base
    • Suggest a target notebook and one or two tags based on your existing notebook names
    • Show the note title, created date, and a short preview next to the suggestion
    • Leave a confirm column blank. WebRun proposes the filing but never moves or edits a note itself

Done when Every loose note has a row with a suggested notebook and tag awaiting your confirmation.

  4. 3
WhatsApp - send you the short list
    whatsapp.com
WebRun in WhatsApp: send you the short list
WebRun opens WhatsApp to send you the short list.
    • Send yourself a short WhatsApp note with how many loose notes there are
    • Name the oldest few and the notebooks suggested for them
    • Link the Airtable view so filing is a couple of taps
    • Stay silent in a week where nothing is unfiled

Done when You know how many notes are loose and where they are suggested to go.

Questions, answered

Will it move or delete my notes?

No. WebRun reads your notes and proposes a notebook and tag in Airtable for you to confirm. Nothing is moved, retagged, or deleted in Evernote, so a wrong suggestion costs you nothing.

How does it decide which notebook fits?

It reads your existing notebook and tag names and matches each note's content against them, so suggestions use the structure you already have rather than inventing new notebooks.

What about notes I deliberately keep unfiled?

Tell it once which notes or titles to ignore, for example a running scratch note, and it skips them on every run so the weekly list stays short and useful.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
