Automated WP Engine Backup Verification

Every morning, WebRun opens WP Engine, walks your list of sites and environments, checks the most recent backup point on each, writes a pass or fail row into a Notion log, and texts your on-call number through Twilio if any production site went a night without a backup.

2 Notion log a pass or fail per site

In short

How do I check that all my WordPress sites backed up last night?

WebRun verifies your WP Engine backups every morning. It opens each production environment, reads the newest backup point, logs a pass or fail row in Notion with the timestamp, and texts your on-call number through Twilio only when a site went a night without a backup.

  • A missed backup is known within hours, not at restore time
  • Every site has a dated backup record you can show a client
  • Repeat offenders show up in the Notion history instead of hiding

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens my.wpengine.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
WP Engine - check each site's backup points
    wpengine.com
WebRun in WP Engine: check each site's backup points
WebRun opens WP Engine to check each site's backup points.
    • Open WP Engine and list every install on the account
    • Open each production environment and read its most recent backup point
    • Record the timestamp of that backup and how old it is in hours
    • Mark any environment whose newest backup point is older than your threshold

Done when Every production environment has a checked backup timestamp.

  3. 2
Notion - log a pass or fail per site
    notion.so
WebRun in Notion: log a pass or fail per site
WebRun opens Notion to log a pass or fail per site.
    • Open your hosting operations log in Notion
    • Add today's row for each site with the backup timestamp, the age in hours and a pass or fail flag
    • Keep the running history so you can see which sites fail repeatedly
    • Highlight any site that has failed more than once this month

Done when Today's backup result is recorded for every site in Notion.

  4. 3
Twilio - text you about any gap
    twilio.com
WebRun in Twilio: text you about any gap
WebRun opens Twilio to text you about any gap.
    • Open Twilio and send an SMS only when at least one production site failed the check
    • Name the site, the age of its newest backup point and the environment
    • Send only to your own saved on-call numbers. Never text a client or a site owner
    • Stay silent on a clean run so the alert keeps its meaning

Done when Your on-call number has been texted about every failed site, or nothing was sent because all sites passed.

Questions, answered

Will it text my clients?

No. The Twilio SMS goes only to the on-call numbers you save during setup. WebRun never texts a client or site owner, and any client-facing note is left as a draft for you to send.

Does it restore or create backups itself?

No. WebRun only reads backup points and reports on them. It never triggers a restore, never deletes a backup point and never changes an environment, so a bad run cannot touch a live site.

How noisy is the alert?

Quiet by design. A text goes out only when a production site has no backup newer than your threshold. Clean mornings produce no SMS at all, just the Notion log row.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
