Questions, answered
Why does gift card liability matter for bookkeeping?
Outstanding gift card balances are a financial liability on your books because the money has been received but the goods have not yet been provided. Tracking the total weekly keeps your balance sheet accurate.
Can it flag cards that may be eligible for escheatment under state law?
WebRun can flag cards older than a configurable age, for example 3 years, as potentially subject to your state's unclaimed property rules. Always consult your accountant for the specific escheatment obligation in your state.
Does it reveal individual customer card balances?
The weekly digest logs aggregate liability totals only. Individual card numbers and balances are captured internally for the calculation but are not included in the Google Sheets output.
