Automated TaxJar Sales Tax Reconciliation

On the first of each month, WebRun opens TaxJar, compares the sales tax filed for each state against what was actually collected in the platform, logs the totals to Google Sheets, and creates a Notion task for any state with a discrepancy so it gets resolved before the next filing period.

In short

How do I reconcile TaxJar sales tax filings every month?

WebRun compares your TaxJar filed returns against tax actually collected for every state on the first of each month. It logs the totals to Google Sheets and creates a Notion task for any state with a discrepancy, so a filing mismatch gets caught and resolved before it compounds into the next period.

  • Filed and collected tax get compared automatically every month
  • Every discrepancy has a tracked task instead of a buried spreadsheet cell
  • Mismatches are caught before they compound across filing periods

Questions, answered

Does it file the sales tax return itself?

No. WebRun only compares what was already filed against what was collected. Filing or amending a return stays with your finance team.

What causes a discrepancy?

Usually a timing difference or a rate change that wasn't reflected before filing. WebRun just flags where the two numbers don't match so someone can check why.

What happens once a discrepancy is resolved?

Mark the Notion task done, and the next month's reconciliation starts fresh from the current numbers.

Put this on autopilot.
