Automated MEGA Backup Verification

Every morning, WebRun signs in to MEGA, opens each backup folder you track, checks whether files arrived overnight and how big they are against a normal night, reads your remaining storage, posts the verification to Telegram, and queues a Twilio text whenever a backup is missing.

In short

How do I check my backups actually ran last night?

WebRun opens each MEGA backup folder every morning and checks whether last night's file arrived, how big it is against a normal night, and how much storage is left. It posts the verification to Telegram and queues a Twilio text for approval whenever a folder came up empty.

  • A missed backup is caught the next morning, not at restore time
  • Suspiciously small files are flagged as likely partial runs
  • Storage running low is visible before an upload starts failing

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens mega.nz/login in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

    • Check whether a file was added since yesterday and record its name, size, and timestamp
    • Compare the size against the last few nights and flag anything unusually small
    • Read the account storage used and remaining
    • Read only. Never delete, move, or share a file

Done when Every tracked folder is marked as backed up, late, or missing, and storage is recorded.

  3. 2
    Telegram - post the verification
    telegram.org
WebRun in Telegram: post the verification

    • Post the morning verification to your operations channel in Telegram

    • Include the date of the last file that did arrive so the gap is clear

    • Queue nothing on mornings where every folder is up to date

Done when A missed backup text is queued for approval whenever a folder came up empty.

Questions, answered

Does it move, delete, or share any files?

No. WebRun only reads folder contents, file timestamps, and your storage figure in MEGA. It never deletes, renames, moves, downloads, or creates a share link. File uploads are blocked by the policy on this template.

How does it know a backup is incomplete rather than missing?

It compares last night's file size against the previous few nights. A file that arrived but came in far smaller than normal is flagged as suspicious in the Telegram post, which usually means the job failed part way.

Will it text me every morning?

No. The Twilio text is queued only when a folder received nothing overnight, and even then it waits for approval before sending. Normal mornings produce just the Telegram post.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
