Automated MediaFire Backup Verification

Every Monday, WebRun signs in to MediaFire, checks each backup folder for the files that should have arrived over the last week, compares names, dates and sizes against your Trello backup checklist, ticks off what landed, and queues an SMS in Twilio for the systems owner when something is missing or suspiciously small.

In short

How do I verify that my weekly backups actually uploaded?

WebRun signs in to MediaFire every Monday and checks each backup folder for the files that should have arrived that week, comparing names, dates, and sizes. It ticks off the Trello backup checklist, writes the gaps into the card, and queues a Twilio SMS naming anything missing or undersized.

  • A failed backup is found the week it fails, not at restore time
  • Partial uploads are caught by comparing file sizes
  • The checklist reflects what is really stored, not what should be

    • Open this week's backup verification card
    • Tick off every checklist item whose file arrived on time and at the expected size

    twilio.com
WebRun in Twilio: queue an SMS on missing files

Done when A missing-backup SMS is queued for approval, or the week is confirmed complete.

Questions, answered

Does it delete or move anything in MediaFire?

No. The run only reads file names, dates, and sizes. Nothing is deleted, moved, renamed, or downloaded, so a verification run can never damage the backups it is checking.

Will it text anyone automatically?

No. The missing-backup SMS is drafted and queued in Twilio and stays unsent until you approve it. The Trello checklist is an internal board, so that updates on its own.

How does it spot a broken backup that still uploaded?

It compares each file's size against the previous week's copy and flags anything much smaller, which is the usual sign that a job failed partway rather than not running at all.
