Automated InMotion Hosting Backup Verification

Every morning, WebRun signs in to InMotion Hosting, checks that last night's backup exists for every website and database on the account, records each result in Airtable, files a dated verification report in Google Drive, and calls out any site whose backup did not run.

In short

How do I verify that my website backups actually ran last night?

Every morning WebRun signs in to InMotion Hosting and checks that last night's backup exists for every website and database on your account. It records each result in Airtable, files the verification report in Google Drive, and calls out any site with no recent backup before you ever need to restore one.

  • A missing backup is found the next morning, not during an outage
  • Every site and database carries a dated pass or fail record
  • The Drive folder becomes an evidence trail for clients and audits

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens www.inmotionhosting.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
InMotion Hosting - check last night's backups
    inmotionhosting.com
WebRun in InMotion Hosting: check last night's backups
WebRun opens InMotion Hosting to check last night's backups.
    • Sign in to InMotion Hosting and list every hosting account and website you manage
    • For each site, read the most recent backup and the date and time it completed
    • Do the same for the databases attached to each site
    • Flag any site or database whose newest backup is older than last night, and note the current disk usage in case space is the cause

Done when Every website and database has a confirmed backup date, or is flagged as missing one.

  3. 2
Airtable - record the result per site
    airtable.com
WebRun in Airtable: record the result per site
WebRun opens Airtable to record the result per site.
    • Add a row per site per day with the backup date, the backup age in hours, and pass or fail
    • Do the same for each database so a site with a fresh file backup and a stale database is visible
    • Keep a rolling streak count per site so a repeatedly failing backup stands out

Done when Airtable holds today's pass or fail for every site and database.

  4. 3
Google Drive - file the verification report
    drive.google.com
WebRun in Google Drive: file the verification report
WebRun opens Google Drive to file the verification report.
    • Write a dated verification report to your Drive folder listing every site, its backup time, and its result
    • Lead the report with any site that failed and how many days it has been failing
    • Keep previous days so the folder becomes the evidence trail you can show an auditor or a client

Done when Today's dated verification report is filed in Google Drive.

Questions, answered

Will it restore a backup or change my hosting?

No. WebRun reads backup dates and reports them. Restoring a site, deleting an old backup, or changing a hosting setting stays with you, and shell access is blocked by the policy.

Does it download my backup files?

No. Only the backup date, its age, and a pass or fail are recorded. The report in Google Drive is a text record, and the backup archives themselves are never copied.

What if a backup fails several nights running?

The report leads with it and Airtable shows the failing streak, so a site that has quietly missed three nights is impossible to overlook the next morning.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
