Automated IDrive Backup Failure Monitoring
Every morning, WebRun signs into IDrive, reads the last backup result for every device and account in the dashboard, flags failures and machines that have not checked in, posts the exceptions to your Microsoft Teams channel, and updates a fleet status record per device in Airtable.
How do I know when a device stops backing up?
WebRun checks every device in your IDrive account each morning and reads its last backup result. Failures, machines that have gone silent, and sharp drops in backed-up size are posted to Microsoft Teams, and a per-device health record is kept current in Airtable with consecutive failure counts.
- A failing backup is caught the next morning, not at restore time
- Silent machines are separated from failures, so the real gap is visible
- Repeat offenders are obvious from the consecutive failure count

What does WebRun do on every run?
The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.
-
WebRun signs in and gets to work
Opens
www.idrive.comin a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys. -
1
IDrive - check every device's last backup
WebRun opens IDrive to check every device's last backup. - Sign into IDrive and open the dashboard listing your backed-up devices
- Read the last backup date, result, and size for every device and account
- Flag devices whose last backup failed or completed with errors
- Flag devices with no backup at all since your cutoff, since a silent machine is worse than a failed one
- Note any device where the backed-up size dropped sharply, which often means folders were dropped from the set
Done when Every device has a last backup result and an exception flag where needed.
-
2
Microsoft Teams - post the failures and silent machines
WebRun opens Microsoft Teams to post the failures and silent machines. - Post the morning exception list to your IT channel in Microsoft Teams
- Lead with devices that have gone silent, then failures, then sharp size drops
- Show the device name, its owner, and how many days since a successful backup
- Post a one-line all-clear when every device backed up cleanly, so the check is visibly running
Done when The IT channel has today's backup exceptions in Microsoft Teams.
-
3
Airtable - log fleet backup status
WebRun opens Airtable to log fleet backup status. - Open your device fleet base in Airtable
- Upsert one record per device with the last successful backup date, the latest result, and the backed-up size
- Set a health field to Healthy, Failing, or Silent based on today's read
- Count consecutive failing days per device so a repeat offender is obvious
- Never change a backup schedule, restore data, or delete a backup set
Done when Every device record shows today's health and its consecutive failure count.
How is each run configured?
Secure by default
Connect once, stays signed in
WebRun signs in once and keeps each session in a persistent environment, so every run picks up right where it left off.
Every action is checked against this policy before it runs.
Questions, answered
Can it restore files or change my backup settings?
No. WebRun reads the IDrive dashboard only. It never restores data, deletes a backup set, edits a schedule, or removes a device, so nothing about your protection changes because of a monitoring run.
What is the difference between a failure and a silent device?
A failure is a backup that ran and errored. A silent device has not reported at all since your cutoff, which usually means the machine is off, offline, or the agent stopped. Silent devices are listed first because they hide the longest.
Why does it watch the backed-up size?
Because a sharp drop usually means folders fell out of the backup set while the job still reports success. WebRun compares each device's size against its recent normal and flags a big fall as an exception.
