Automated iCloud Backup Status Checks

Every Monday, WebRun signs in to iCloud, opens the account and device view, reads when each device last backed up and how much space its backup uses, flags any device that has not backed up inside your allowed window, posts the full device list to Slack with stale devices at the top, and sends a one-line Telegram nudge when something needs attention.

In short

How do I check that all my devices are still backing up to iCloud?

WebRun signs in to iCloud every Monday and reads when each device in your account last completed a backup. Anything past your window, seven days by default, is flagged and posted to Slack with the days-since figure, and Telegram gets a one-line nudge, so a device that quietly stopped backing up is caught in a week.

  • A stopped backup is caught within a week, not after a device is lost
  • Devices with no backup at all always rank first
  • Quiet weeks send no message at all

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens www.icloud.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
iCloud - read each device's backup date
    icloud.com
WebRun in iCloud: read each device's backup date
WebRun opens iCloud to read each device's backup date.
    • Sign in to iCloud and open the account settings and device list
    • Capture every device with its name, model, and the date its backup last completed
    • Note the size of each backup and whether the device is still shown as active
    • Work out days since last backup and mark anything past the window you set, seven days by default
    • Note devices that appear in the list but have no backup at all

Done when Every device has a last backup date and a days-since figure.

  3. 2
Slack - post the stale device list
    slack.com
WebRun in Slack: post the stale device list
WebRun opens Slack to post the stale device list.
    • Post the device list to your IT or ops Slack channel
    • Put stale devices first with the number of days since their last backup
    • Show devices with no backup at all above everything else
    • Add one line comparing this week's stale count with last week's

Done when The device list is posted in Slack with stale devices at the top.

  4. 3
Telegram - nudge you when something is stale
    telegram.org
WebRun in Telegram: nudge you when something is stale
WebRun opens Telegram to nudge you when something is stale.
    • Send a one-line Telegram nudge naming how many devices are stale and the worst offender
    • Stay quiet on weeks where every device backed up inside the window
    • Keep the thread so a device that keeps slipping is easy to spot

Done when The nudge is sent, or every device was fresh and nothing was sent.

Questions, answered

Can it delete old backups to free space?

No. WebRun only reads the device and backup list. It never deletes a backup, removes a device, changes a storage plan, or opens your files. Every change stays a human decision.

How stale is stale?

Seven days by default, and you can set your own window. Devices with no backup at all are always shown first, above anything that is merely overdue.

Does it read the contents of my files?

No. It reads device names, backup dates and backup sizes from the account view. Photos, documents and messages are never opened or copied.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
