Automated Codecademy Onboarding Tracking

Every Monday, WebRun opens Codecademy, reads the course and path progress for each learner on your onboarding roster, writes the percentage complete and the last active date into their Airtable training record, and moves each learner's Trello onboarding card forward as the assigned courses are finished.

In short

How do I track new hire course progress without chasing people?

WebRun opens Codecademy every Monday and reads each new hire's course and path progress. It writes the percentage complete and last active date into their Airtable training record, moves their Trello onboarding card as courses finish, and flags anyone who has stalled for two weeks.

  • Managers stop asking people how far along they are
  • Stalled learners are flagged in the first fortnight
  • The onboarding board matches real course completion every Monday

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens www.codecademy.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
Codecademy - read each learner's progress
    codecademy.com
WebRun in Codecademy: read each learner's progress
WebRun opens Codecademy to read each learner's progress.
    • Open Codecademy and load the progress view for each learner on your onboarding roster
    • Capture the assigned courses and paths with the percentage complete for each
    • Note the last active date so stalled learners are visible
    • Mark any assigned course that has been finished since the previous run

Done when Every learner on the roster has this week's progress and last active date.

  3. 2
Trello - move the onboarding card forward
    trello.com
WebRun in Trello: move the onboarding card forward
WebRun opens Trello to move the onboarding card forward.
    • Open the onboarding board and find each learner's card
    • Tick the checklist item for every assigned course finished since the last run
    • Move a card to the next list once all courses in the current stage are complete
    • Add a comment on any card whose learner has not been active for two weeks, and leave the card where it is

Done when Every learner's card reflects the courses they have actually finished.

  4. 3
Airtable - update the training record
    airtable.com
WebRun in Airtable: update the training record
WebRun opens Airtable to update the training record.
    • Open your training base and update each learner's row with this week's figures
    • Write the percentage complete per course, the last active date, and the stage they are now in
    • Flag learners who have made no progress for two weeks in a row
    • Add a weekly summary row with the cohort's average completion so the trend is visible

Done when The training base shows this week's progress for every learner plus the cohort average.

Questions, answered

Will it message the learners?

No. WebRun updates your own Trello board and Airtable base only. It never emails or messages a learner, and it never enrols, unenrols, or changes anything inside a learner's Codecademy account.

What happens when someone stalls?

A learner with no progress for two weeks gets flagged in Airtable and a comment on their Trello card. The card is not moved and nobody is chased automatically, so their manager decides what to do.

Can it follow our own onboarding stages?

Yes. Point WebRun at your Trello board and tell it which courses belong to which stage, and it ticks the checklist and moves cards using your existing lists rather than a fixed structure.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
