Automated BMO Transaction Export

Every Monday, WebRun opens BMO, reads every transaction posted on your accounts in the last seven days with its date, description, amount, and closing balance, appends them to your Airtable ledger without duplicating rows, and writes a short reconciliation note in Notion.

In short

How do I export my BMO transactions to a bookkeeping sheet every week?

WebRun opens BMO every Monday, reads the last seven days of posted transactions on each account, and appends them to your Airtable ledger with the date, description, amount, and balance. It then writes a Notion note of totals and unclear items, so reconciliation starts as categorising rather than copying.

  • The ledger is current before Monday's first coffee
  • No transaction is keyed in by hand or copied twice
  • Closing balances are recorded weekly so the books tie out

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens www.bmo.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
BMO - read last week's transactions
    • Open BMO and select each account you track
    • Set the date range to the last seven days and read the posted transactions
    • Capture the date, description, amount, direction, and running balance for each
    • Note the closing balance per account so the sheet can be tied out. WebRun only reads: it never moves money or pays anything

Done when Every transaction from last week is captured on every tracked account.

  3. 2
Airtable - append the ledger rows
    airtable.com
WebRun in Airtable: append the ledger rows
WebRun opens Airtable to append the ledger rows.
    • Open the bookkeeping base and append one row per transaction
    • Check the date, amount, and description against existing rows so nothing is added twice
    • Leave the category field blank for the bookkeeper to fill
    • Record the closing balance for each account on the week's summary row

Done when Last week's transactions are in Airtable with no duplicates and balances recorded.

  4. 3
Notion - note what needs categorising
    notion.so
WebRun in Notion: note what needs categorising
WebRun opens Notion to note what needs categorising.
    • Post a short weekly note with the row count, the total in and out, and the closing balance per account
    • Flag transactions with vague descriptions that will need a look
    • Link back to the Airtable view so the bookkeeper starts in the right place

Done when The week's reconciliation note is in Notion with anything unclear flagged.

Questions, answered

Can it move money or pay a bill?

No. WebRun only reads your BMO transaction history and copies it out. It never initiates a transfer, a payment, or any other movement of funds, and payment screens are outside what this workflow touches.

Will transactions get added twice?

No. Before appending, WebRun matches each transaction against the rows already in Airtable on date, amount, and description, so a re-run or an overlapping date range does not duplicate the ledger.

What about transactions that are still pending?

Only posted transactions are exported. Pending items are left out until they settle, so the sheet always matches what the bank has actually cleared and ties to the closing balance.
