Automated Anaplan Import Failure Checks

Every morning, WebRun opens Anaplan, reviews every import and action that ran overnight across your models, picks out the ones that failed or finished with errors, reads the error log for each, raises a Trello card holding those lines, and messages you the pass and fail count on WhatsApp.

In short

How do I check whether my overnight Anaplan imports succeeded?

WebRun reviews every Anaplan import and action that ran overnight, picking out the ones that failed, errored, or never started. It raises a Trello card per failure with the error lines attached and messages you the pass and fail count on WhatsApp, so nobody plans on yesterday's numbers.

  • Failed loads are known at 7 AM, before anyone opens a dashboard
  • Error lines arrive with the card, so the fix skips a lookup
  • A scheduled load that never started is caught, not mistaken for success

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens anaplan.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
Anaplan - check last night's loads
    anaplan.com
WebRun in Anaplan: check last night's loads
WebRun opens Anaplan to check last night's loads.
    • Open Anaplan and list every import and action that ran since yesterday evening, model by model
    • Record the run time, the model, the workspace, and the finish status of each
    • Open the error log for anything that failed or completed with errors and capture the failing lines
    • Note any scheduled load that did not run at all, which is easy to miss when only failures are checked

Done when Every overnight import and action has a status, and each failure has its error lines captured.

  3. 2
Trello - raise a card per failure
    trello.com
WebRun in Trello: raise a card per failure
WebRun opens Trello to raise a card per failure.
    • Raise a card on your model support board for each failed or errored load
    • Put the model, workspace, action name, run time, and the captured error lines in the card body
    • Update the existing card rather than opening a second one when the same load failed yesterday too
    • Add a separate card for any scheduled load that never started

Done when Every failure has one live card holding the model, the action, and its error lines.

  4. 3
WhatsApp - message the morning count
    whatsapp.com
WebRun in WhatsApp: message the morning count
WebRun opens WhatsApp to message the morning count.
    • Message the count of loads that succeeded, failed, and never started
    • Name the failed actions and the models they belong to
    • Keep it short enough to read before the first planning meeting

Done when You know before the day starts whether last night's data actually landed.

Questions, answered

Will it re-run a failed import?

No. WebRun only reads run history and error logs in Anaplan. It never starts, retries, or cancels an action, and it never changes model data. Every failure becomes a Trello card for a person to work.

Does it catch loads that never ran?

Yes. It compares what should have run overnight against what actually ran, so a scheduled load that never started gets its own card rather than passing as silence.

What lands in the card?

The model, the workspace, the action name, the run time, and the failing lines from the error log, so the fix starts without a second trip into Anaplan.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
