Automated Tax Fee Collection
Every morning, WebRun checks TaxDome for clients with unpaid prep fee invoices, verifies the balance in Stripe, drafts a polite payment reminder for each unpaid client, and posts a Slack summary so the preparer can review the drafts and decide which ones to send before releasing any completed returns.
How do I automatically collect tax preparation fees and chase unpaid invoices?
WebRun checks TaxDome and Stripe every morning for clients with unpaid prep fee invoices, drafts a polite payment reminder for each one, and posts a Slack summary so the preparer can review and send reminders before releasing completed returns. No charge is initiated and no message is sent without your approval.
- Every unpaid invoice is flagged each morning with the balance and days overdue
- Payment reminder drafts are ready so preparers respond fast without writing from scratch
- Stripe cross-check prevents reminders to clients who already paid

Questions, answered
Will it charge the client's card automatically?
No. WebRun drafts a payment reminder and leaves it unsent for the preparer to review. It never charges a card, initiates a payment, or sends any message to a client without your explicit approval.
Can it hold the completed return until the invoice is paid?
WebRun flags in the Slack alert which clients have a completed return that has not been released yet, so the preparer can see at a glance who to prioritize. The hold itself is managed inside TaxDome by the preparer.
What if a client paid but TaxDome has not updated yet?
WebRun cross-checks the balance in Stripe before drafting any reminder, so if Stripe shows a zero balance the client is skipped even if TaxDome is lagging. This prevents sending a reminder to someone who already paid.
