ShipStation Return Label Request Handler Automation
Every hour, WebRun checks Gmail for customer emails requesting a return label, looks up the original order in ShipStation to confirm eligibility, generates a return label in ShipStation, and drafts a reply to the customer with the label attached, leaving the email unsent in Gmail for your team to review. A Slack ping tells the team a draft is waiting.
How do I automatically process return label requests from customers using ShipStation?
WebRun checks Gmail every hour for customer return label requests, looks up each order in ShipStation to confirm eligibility, generates a return label, and drafts a reply with the label included. The draft stays unsent in Gmail until a team member reviews and approves it. Slack pings the team for each new draft.
- Return label requests handled in under an hour instead of waiting in a queue
- No label sent to an ineligible order: eligibility checked in ShipStation every time
- Human review preserved: every customer reply is a Gmail draft before it is sent

Questions, answered
Will it send the return label to the customer automatically?
No. WebRun drafts the reply with the return label and leaves it unsent in Gmail. A team member reviews and sends it. Nothing reaches the customer without human approval.
What if the order is outside the return window?
WebRun flags ineligible requests separately and does not generate a label. The team can decide how to handle out-of-window requests individually before any response is sent.
Which carriers does it use for the return label?
It defaults to the carrier used on the original outbound shipment if available in ShipStation. You can configure a preferred return carrier at setup.
