Automated ShiftWizard Open-Shift Alerts
Every few minutes, WebRun checks ShiftWizard for newly opened shifts, matches each one against qualified and available nurses by unit and skill, drafts a text alert through Twilio for the charge nurse to review and send, and posts a live open-shift board to Slack so the whole unit can see what still needs covering.
How do I alert the right nurses the moment a ShiftWizard shift opens up?
WebRun checks ShiftWizard every few minutes for newly opened shifts, matches each one against qualified and available nurses by unit and skill, and drafts a text alert through Twilio for the charge nurse to review and send. It also posts a live open-shift board to Slack, so the whole unit sees what still needs covering without anyone refreshing a schedule.
- Qualified nurses are alerted within minutes of a shift opening, not hours
- Charge nurses approve every text before it goes out, nothing sends blind
- The open-shift board updates live so double-booking and stale postings stop

Questions, answered
Will it text nurses without a person approving it first?
No. Every alert is drafted in Twilio and held for the charge nurse to review and send. WebRun never contacts a nurse's phone on its own.
How does it decide which nurses to alert first?
It reads each nurse's unit, skill or certification, and current availability in ShiftWizard, then ranks matches by seniority or your unit's shift-bid order, so the most eligible nurse is drafted first.
What happens once a shift is filled?
It reads the live shift status in ShiftWizard on every check, so a shift that gets claimed is removed from the open-shift board and no further alerts are drafted for it.
