Automated Mode Report Failure Alerts

Every hour, WebRun opens Mode, checks scheduled reports and queries run in the last hour for failures, posts a Telegram alert naming the report and the error, and sends a Twilio text if the same report has failed more than once today.

In short

How do I get alerted immediately when a Mode scheduled report fails?

WebRun checks Mode's scheduled reports and queries every hour, reading each run's status and any query error. A failure posts a Telegram alert naming the report and the error, and a report failing more than once the same day escalates to a Twilio text, so a broken scheduled report gets caught before someone opens a stale dashboard.

  • Failed reports get a Telegram alert within the hour
  • Repeatedly failing reports get a text escalation, not lost in the noise
  • Recovered reports clear themselves from alerts automatically

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens app.mode.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
Mode - check scheduled report and query status
    • Open Mode and list scheduled reports and queries run in the last hour
    • Check each run's status and any query error
    • Note any report that's failed more than once today

Done when Every scheduled run from the last hour has a checked status.

  3. 2
    Telegram - alert on failure
    telegram.org
WebRun in Telegram: alert on failure
WebRun posts to Telegram to alert on failure.
    • Post an alert to the analytics group naming the report and the error
    • Include a link to the run

Done when The team has a Telegram alert for every failed run.

  4. 3
Twilio - escalate a repeat failure
    twilio.com
WebRun in Twilio: escalate a repeat failure
WebRun uses Twilio to escalate a repeat failure.
    • Send a text if the same report has failed more than once today
    • Name the report and the recurring error

Done when Every repeatedly failing report has a text alert.

Questions, answered

Will it re-run the report or fix the query on its own?

No. WebRun only reports the failure and escalates what's persistent. Re-running a report or fixing the underlying query is left to a human.

Why escalate to a text instead of just Telegram?

A single failure shows up in the regular Telegram alert. A report failing more than once the same day gets a text so a genuine pattern doesn't get missed.

What if the report recovers on the next scheduled run?

It checks the latest run status each hour, so a report that's back to succeeding drops out of both the alert and the escalation automatically.

Put this on autopilot.
