Automated Akamai Certificate Expiry Alerts
Every Monday, WebRun signs into Akamai Control Center, reads every certificate with its hostnames, issuer, and expiry date, writes the full inventory into Airtable, works out which certificates expire in the next 60 days, and posts that renewal list to your security channel in Microsoft Teams.
How do I track Akamai certificate expiry dates before they lapse?
WebRun signs into Akamai Control Center every Monday and reads every certificate with its hostnames, issuer, renewal type, and expiry date. It records the inventory in Airtable with days remaining, then posts the next 60 days of renewals to Microsoft Teams, listing manual renewals separately.
- Every expiry is visible 60 days ahead
- Manual-renewal certificates are named separately from automatic ones
- One Airtable inventory replaces a spreadsheet nobody updates

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

WebRun signs in and gets to work
Opens

1
Akamai - read certificates and expiry dates
WebRun opens Akamai to read certificates and expiry dates. - Sign in to Akamai Control Center and open your certificate list
- Capture each certificate with its common name, additional hostnames, issuer, and expiry date
- Note whether renewal is automatic or manual for each one
- Flag anything expiring within 60 days and anything already expired
- Read only. Never request, deploy, or revoke a certificate
Done when Every certificate is listed with its hostnames, renewal type, and expiry date.
-
2
Airtable - record the certificate inventory
WebRun opens Airtable to record the certificate inventory. - Open your certificate base in Airtable and refresh the inventory
- Write one record per certificate with hostnames, issuer, expiry, renewal type, and days remaining
- Mark manual-renewal certificates as needing an owner
- Keep last week's record so a certificate that vanishes from the estate is still traceable
Done when The Airtable inventory matches the live certificate list with days remaining.
-
3
Microsoft Teams - post the renewal list
WebRun opens Microsoft Teams to post the renewal list. - Post the next 60 days of certificate renewals to your security channel
- Sort by days remaining so the nearest expiry sits at the top
- Call out manual-renewal certificates separately, since those need a person
- Name anything already expired as the first line of the message
- Say plainly when nothing expires in the window
Done when The security channel has this week's certificate renewal list.
How is each run configured?
Secure by default
Connect once, stays signed in
WebRun signs in once and keeps each session in a persistent environment, so every run picks up right where it left off.
Every action is checked against this policy before it runs.
Questions, answered
Will it renew or deploy certificates?
No. WebRun reads the certificate list in Akamai Control Center only. It never requests, deploys, revokes, or renews a certificate, and it never edits a property configuration.
How much warning do I get?
The Teams post covers the next 60 days by default, and the Airtable inventory shows days remaining for every certificate, so a manual renewal has two months of visible runway.
Why separate manual renewals?
Automatic renewals usually take care of themselves, while manual ones fail silently. WebRun lists them apart so the certificates that actually need a person are impossible to miss.
