In short

How can I automatically detect inventory sync discrepancies between Shopify online and in-store?

WebRun reads Shopify inventory levels for every SKU across your online store and POS locations each night, compares them for mismatches, and logs any discrepancy above your threshold to a Google Sheet. Your ops team reviews the flagged items the next morning and corrects counts before the selling day begins.

  • Inventory mismatches caught every night before they cause oversells or stockouts
  • Ops team has a prioritized correction list ready each morning
  • No manual cross-location inventory comparison needed

Built for omnichannel retailers · Shopify POS store operators · retail ops teams · inventory managers

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens admin.shopify.com/products/inventory in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1
Shopify - read inventory by SKU and location
    shopify.com
WebRun in Shopify: read inventory by SKU and location
WebRun opens Shopify to read inventory by SKU and location.
    • Open Shopify Admin and go to Products, then Inventory
    • For each active SKU, read the available quantity at every location including online
    • Compare quantities across locations and flag SKUs where the totals do not match expected levels or where a location is at zero while others show stock

Done when Every SKU with a cross-location discrepancy above the set threshold is identified.

  3. 2
Google Sheets - log discrepancies for review
    google.com
WebRun in Google Sheets: log discrepancies for review
WebRun opens Google Sheets to log discrepancies for review.
    • Open the Inventory Discrepancy log sheet
    • Append a new row for each flagged SKU with product name, SKU, location counts, expected total, and the gap
    • Highlight rows where the discrepancy exceeds the critical threshold in red

Done when All discrepancies are logged in the sheet and ready for the ops team to review.

Questions, answered

Will it automatically adjust inventory counts?

No. WebRun only reads and logs discrepancies. Inventory adjustments are made by your team after reviewing the sheet, so no count is changed without a human decision.

What threshold triggers a flag?

You set the threshold during setup. By default any SKU where a location shows zero while another shows stock, or where the gap exceeds five units, is flagged.

How often does it run?

Once every night after trading hours. You can also trigger it manually in WebRun if you need a mid-day check after a large in-store sale or online promotion.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
