In short

How do I track intermodal demurrage charges before they accumulate?

WebRun checks Rail Command every morning for railcars approaching or exceeding their free-time allowance, posts an alert to your Slack operations channel ranked by accruing charge, and updates a Google Sheets accrual log, so your team can act before demurrage bills arrive.

  • At-risk cars are flagged the same morning, before charges compound
  • The whole team sees a ranked Slack alert with charges and locations
  • A live Google Sheets log keeps the accrual position current every day

Built for intermodal operations managers · rail freight teams · logistics controllers · shipper finance teams

Questions, answered

How does it calculate the demurrage charge?

It reads the days-held count and the tariff rate directly from Rail Command, which tracks free-time rules by railroad and commodity, so the accrual figure matches what the railroad will invoice.

Will it take any action to release the car?

No. WebRun only monitors and reports. Releasing a car or contacting a customer requires a human decision, so the Slack alert gives your team the information they need to act quickly.

Can I set a threshold so only high-risk cars appear in the alert?

Yes. You can configure a minimum charge threshold or a minimum days-held cutoff so the Slack alert focuses on the cars that matter most to your operation.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
