Tekla PowerFab Automatic Cut Optimization Reports

Every night, WebRun opens Tekla PowerFab, pulls the day's completed nesting and cutting runs, calculates material yield and drop weight for each job, logs the results to a Google Sheet, and posts a Slack alert for any run that fell below your yield target so you can see why before the next order goes out.

In short

How do I track material yield on every cutting run and catch waste before it adds up?

WebRun reviews every nesting run Tekla PowerFab completes each day, calculates the usable yield and drop weight per job, and logs the results to a Google Sheet. Any run that falls below your shop's yield target gets flagged in a Slack alert that night, naming the job and the shortfall, so wasted plate and drop get caught before the next order ships.

  • Low-yield nesting runs get flagged the same night, not at month end
  • Drop and remnant weight is tracked by job so nothing gets scrapped by habit
  • Yield trends by stock type are visible without pulling a manual report

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens www.tekla.com/products/tekla-powerfab in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

WebRun opens Tekla PowerFab to pull the day's nesting and cutting results.
    • Open Tekla PowerFab and pull every nesting run completed today
    • Capture the job, the plate or bar stock used, the usable yield percentage, and the drop weight for each run
    • Compare each run's yield against your shop's target yield percentage

Done when Every nesting run completed today is listed with its yield percentage and drop weight.

  3. 2
Google Sheets - log yield and drop by job

WebRun in Google Sheets: log yield and drop by job
WebRun opens Google Sheets to log yield and drop by job.
    • Add a row for every run with the job, stock size, yield percentage, and drop weight
    • Keep a running average yield by job type so trends are visible over time

Done when The yield log has an entry for every run completed today.

  4. 3
Slack - alert on any run below target
    slack.com
WebRun in Slack: alert on any run below target
WebRun opens Slack to alert on any run below target.
    • Post a Slack alert for any run that fell below your shop's yield target
    • Name the job, the stock used, and how far the run missed target
    • Roll up the day's average yield across all runs at the bottom of the message

Done when Your ops channel has today's yield alert and average posted in Slack.

Questions, answered

Does it change nesting settings to improve yield?

No. WebRun only reads and reports on completed nesting runs. It never adjusts nesting parameters or re-runs an optimization, that decision stays with your programmer.

What counts as a low-yield run?

Any run that finishes below the yield target you set for that stock type. You control the threshold, and WebRun flags anything under it the same night.

Does it track remnants for reuse?

Yes. Drop weight is logged by job and stock size, so you can see which remnants are worth holding for a future nest instead of scrapping.
