Automated Pediatric Lab Results Routing

Every morning, WebRun opens Office Practicum, finds lab and diagnostic results received overnight, matches each to the ordering provider, logs the routing details in a Google Sheet, and posts a Slack alert to each provider's channel so results are reviewed promptly and no family waits unnecessarily for their child's results.

In short

How can a pediatric practice automatically route lab results to the right provider each morning?

WebRun opens Office Practicum every morning, finds all lab and diagnostic results received overnight, matches each to the ordering provider, and logs the routing in Google Sheets with abnormal values highlighted. It then posts a Slack alert to clinical staff so every provider starts the day knowing which results are waiting, and no child's results sit unreviewed.

  • No lab result sits unreviewed because every provider receives a morning Slack alert with their pending result count
  • Abnormal results are flagged prominently so same-day review is prioritized without manual chart searches
  • The Google Sheet routing log creates an auditable record of when each result was received and who it was routed to

Questions, answered

Will it send lab results to patients or families automatically?

No. WebRun routes results internally to providers and clinical staff only. No result is shared with a family until the ordering provider has reviewed it and releases it through the appropriate clinical workflow.

How does it handle abnormal or critical results?

It flags abnormal results in both the Google Sheet log and the Slack alert so they are visually distinct and providers know to prioritize same-day review. Critical value follow-up is always handled by clinical staff.

What if a result was already reviewed before the morning run?

It reads the current review status from Office Practicum. Results already marked as reviewed by a provider are not included in the morning alert, so the digest only surfaces genuinely pending items.
