Automated ICNet Surgical Site Infection Tracking

Every Monday, WebRun opens ICNet, finds surgical patients whose 30 or 90 day surgical site infection surveillance window falls in the coming week, captures the procedure, surgeon, and due date for each, logs a follow-up tracker to Google Sheets, and posts the week's due list to Microsoft Teams so surgical and wound care staff complete every assessment on time.

In short

How do I track which patients are due for SSI surveillance follow-up?

WebRun opens ICNet every Monday, finds surgical patients whose 30 or 90 day surgical site infection follow-up window falls in the coming week, and logs each to a Google Sheets tracker with the procedure, surgeon, and due date. It posts the week's list to Microsoft Teams grouped by surgeon, so no SSI follow-up assessment is missed after discharge.

  • Every SSI follow-up due in the coming week is tracked before staff need to search charts
  • Surgeons see their own due list in Teams instead of a shared, unfiltered report
  • Completed follow-ups drop off automatically so the tracker never shows stale cases

Questions, answered

Does WebRun contact the patient directly for their follow-up?

No. It only builds the tracker and notifies surgical and wound care staff of who is due. Any call, visit, or chart review to complete the SSI assessment is done by your clinical team, never by WebRun contacting the patient.

How does it know the right follow-up window?

It uses the 30 day window for most procedures and the 90 day window for procedures with an implant, matching standard NHSN SSI surveillance periods, read directly from ICNet's procedure record.

What happens to a procedure once its follow-up is completed?

It drops off the tracker and the Teams list on the next run, once ICNet shows the follow-up assessment has been logged as complete.
