Automated ICNet CLABSI CAUTI Daily Digest

Every morning, WebRun opens ICNet, tallies new and open CLABSI and CAUTI cases by unit, logs the day's device-associated infection counts to a Google Sheets tracker, and texts each unit's charge nurse a short summary by Twilio so device-day risk stays visible daily instead of surfacing only at month end.

In short

How do I get a daily CLABSI and CAUTI count by unit from ICNet?

WebRun opens ICNet every morning, tallies new and open CLABSI and CAUTI cases by nursing unit, and logs the day's device-associated infection counts to a Google Sheets tracker with a running month-to-date total. It then texts each affected unit's charge nurse a short summary by Twilio, so device-day infection risk stays visible daily instead of only at month end.

  • Charge nurses see their unit's device-associated infection count every morning, not just at month end
  • Rising unit counts are visible day over day instead of buried in a monthly report
  • Units with zero new cases are never paged, keeping texts relevant

Questions, answered

Does the text include patient details?

No. The SMS to each charge nurse includes only the unit's case count and month-to-date total, never a patient name or identifier.

How does it decide which cases count as CLABSI or CAUTI?

It reads the case classification ICNet has already confirmed against the NHSN definition. WebRun tallies and reports those counts, it does not make or change the clinical classification.

What if a unit has no new cases?

It's skipped. WebRun only texts units with an open or new CLABSI or CAUTI case that day, so charge nurses are not paged unnecessarily.
