Automated Drywall Material Order Drafts

When you mark a drywall takeoff complete in The EDGE, WebRun reads the board counts by thickness and type, matches them to your supplier catalog on USG, drafts an order request for the right sheet quantities, and posts it to Microsoft Teams for a human to approve before it is placed.

In short

How do I turn a drywall takeoff into a material order I can review before placing?

When you complete a drywall takeoff in The EDGE, WebRun reads the board counts by type, adds your waste factor, matches each to the USG catalog, and drafts a material order request. It posts the draft to Microsoft Teams for a human to review, so quantities are checked and nothing is ordered from the supplier without your approval.

  • A material order is drafted straight from the takeoff in minutes, not hours
  • Sheet quantities always match the counts you actually estimated
  • No order reaches a supplier without a human approving it first

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens www.estimatingedge.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1

    • Open the completed drywall estimate in The EDGE
    • Read the board counts by thickness, type, and edge, plus fasteners and corner bead
    • Add your standard waste factor to each line to get order quantities

Done when Every board type has an order quantity that includes waste.

  3. 2
USG - match sheets to the supplier catalog
    usg.com

    • Match each board type to the equivalent Sheetrock product on the USG catalog
    • Confirm sheet size and packaging so quantities convert to lifts and units
    • Build the order request line by line with product, size, and quantity

Done when The order request lists real catalog products with correct sizes and quantities.

  4. 3
Microsoft Teams - post the draft order for approval

WebRun in Microsoft Teams: post the draft order for approval
WebRun posts the drafted order to Teams for a human to approve.
    • Post the drafted material order to Microsoft Teams with product, quantity, and job name
    • Note that it is a draft awaiting approval and must not be placed until a human confirms
    • Wait for a person to review quantities and give the go-ahead before any order is submitted

Done when A review-ready draft order sits in Teams, unplaced, awaiting approval.

Questions, answered

Will it place the material order on its own?

No. WebRun drafts the order and posts it to Teams for a person to review. Nothing is submitted to the supplier until a human confirms the quantities and gives the go-ahead. The purchase stays fully in your control.

How does it decide how many sheets to order?

It reads the board counts by type straight from your completed takeoff in The EDGE, adds the waste factor you set, and converts to catalog units. You can change the waste factor and rounding during setup.

What if we buy from a different supplier than USG?

It still works. WebRun matches your board types to whichever supplier catalog you connect and drafts the order against that. USG is the default example, and any distributor you use can be swapped in.

Put this on autopilot.

Turn it on in minutes - or have our team set it up for you.
