Automated Drone Flight Exception and Incident Alerts
Every hour, WebRun scans DroneDeploy for flights that have stalled in processing, uploads that have failed, projects flagged with a safety or quality alert, and any newly reported incident. When an exception is found, it posts an immediate alert to the ops Slack channel and sends an SMS via Twilio to the duty pilot or manager.
How do I get automatic alerts when a drone flight has an exception or incident?
Every hour, WebRun scans DroneDeploy for flight exceptions including failed uploads, stalled processing, Safety AI alerts, and filed incidents. When one is found, it immediately posts a detailed alert to your Slack ops channel and sends an SMS via Twilio to the duty pilot or manager, so your team can respond before a small exception becomes a big problem.
- Exceptions are caught within the hour, not after the client notices a delay
- Safety alerts trigger an SMS to the duty contact immediately
- Pilots and managers have full context before they respond to any incident

What does WebRun do on every run?
The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

WebRun signs in and gets to work
Opens

1
DroneDeploy - scan for flight exceptions and processing errors
WebRun opens DroneDeploy to scan for flight exceptions and processing errors. - Open DroneDeploy and review all active projects for status changes in the last hour
- Flag any project with a failed upload, stalled processing (queued more than 2 hours), Safety AI alert, or Quality AI defect flag
- Also check for any newly filed incident or anomaly note added to a project in the last hour
Done when All new exceptions, processing failures, and safety flags from the last hour are identified.
-
2
Slack - post immediate exception alert to ops channel

- Tag the assigned pilot and project manager
- Include a direct link to the affected DroneDeploy project
Done when The ops team is alerted in Slack for every new exception.
-

- Include the project name, exception type, and the DroneDeploy project URL in the message
Done when An SMS is sent to the duty contact for any high-priority exception.
How is each run configured?
Secure by default
Connect once, stays signed in
WebRun signs in once and keeps each session in a persistent environment, so every run picks up right where it left off.
Every action is checked against this policy before it runs.
Questions, answered
Does it take any action on the exception, or just alert?
It alerts only. WebRun posts to Slack and sends an SMS so your team can investigate and act. No settings are changed and nothing is submitted to any authority without a human deciding to do so.
What counts as a high-priority exception for the SMS?
Safety AI alerts, Quality AI defect flags, and any incident note added to a project trigger the SMS. Upload failures and processing stalls get a Slack alert only, since those are not immediately safety-critical.
Can I adjust which exceptions trigger an alert?
Yes. During setup you tell WebRun which DroneDeploy status flags and exception types to watch for, and you can update those thresholds at any time.
