Automated Audit Engagement Budget vs. Actual Report

Every Monday, WebRun reads engagement budget and hours data, compares budgeted hours to hours actually logged, calculates the variance and percentage consumed for each engagement, and delivers a ranked report to Google Sheets and a summary to Slack so managers can identify at-risk engagements before they overshoot.

In short

How do I automatically generate a weekly budget vs. actual hours report for my audit engagements?

Every Monday WebRun reads engagement budget data from Suralink, compares budgeted hours to hours logged, and writes a ranked variance report to Google Sheets with at-risk engagements highlighted. A Slack summary of files consuming over 80% of budget with less than 60% completion lands in your management channel before the week's first standup.

  • At-risk engagements identified before hours overshoot budget
  • Weekly variance report in Google Sheets with prior weeks archived automatically
  • Management team alerted in Slack to files consuming budget faster than completion

Questions, answered

Does it contact clients or bill them when hours go over budget?

No. WebRun only generates an internal report. Any billing decision or client conversation about budget overruns is made by the engagement partner, not by the automation.

Where does the hours-logged data come from?

WebRun reads budget data from Suralink. If your firm logs hours in a separate time system, you can connect it during setup so actual hours are pulled from both sources for the variance calculation.

Can I see historical variance trends, not just the current week?

Yes. The Google Sheet archives each week's data to a history tab, so you can track how budget consumption has moved over the life of each engagement.
