Kipu Health Automated Lab Results Routing

Every morning, WebRun opens Kipu Health, finds lab results received since the last run for active patients, matches each result to the ordering provider, flags any critical value, logs all results in a Google Sheets routing tracker, and posts an internal alert to Slack so clinicians see pending results before morning rounds and no critical lab sits unreviewed.

In short

How do I automatically route lab results to the right clinician at my addiction treatment center?

WebRun opens Kipu Health each morning before rounds, finds every new lab result for active patients, and matches each to the ordering provider. It logs all results in a Google Sheets routing tracker with criticality flags and posts an internal Slack alert so clinicians see pending results - including any critical values - before morning rounds, with no PHI leaving your clinical systems.

  • Critical lab results flagged and routed to the ordering provider before morning rounds
  • No lab result sits unreviewed in a chart without a Slack alert
  • Zero PHI sent to external tools - routing uses provider names and result types only

Built for addiction treatment medical directors · behavioral health nursing staff · residential treatment clinical teams · detox and MAT program providers

Step by step

What does WebRun do on every run?

The exact actions WebRun takes, in order - in plain language, so you can adjust anything.

  1. WebRun signs in and gets to work

Opens app.kipuhealth.com in a real browser with your saved login - no setup, no API keys.

  2. 1

    • Flag any result marked critical or outside the reference range
    • Do not log or route any patient name or PHI to external services - use only internal identifiers

Done when All new lab results are identified with ordering provider and criticality status.

    • Post an internal alert to the clinical Slack channel listing the count of new results and any critical values
    • For critical results, tag the ordering provider by name in the Slack message
    • Include a link to the Google Sheets routing tracker
    • Do not include any patient PHI in the Slack message - reference only provider name and result type

Done when Clinical team has a results routing alert in Slack before morning rounds with critical values called out.

Questions, answered

Does it send PHI to Slack or Google Sheets?

No. The Slack alert and Google Sheets log contain only provider names, result types, and criticality flags. Patient names and clinical values remain exclusively within Kipu Health, in compliance with 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA.

What counts as a critical lab result?

It flags any result that Kipu Health marks as critical or outside the reference range, including critical drug screen positives (e.g. fentanyl), and any metabolic panel value flagged as high or low by the lab. Your medical director can specify additional flag criteria.

Will it take any clinical action based on the result?

No. WebRun identifies, routes, and alerts - it never interprets, documents, or acts on a lab result. All clinical decisions and documentation remain with the ordering provider and care team.
