Carta Stripe Automated Exercise Payment Reconciliation

Every morning, WebRun opens Carta to collect expected option exercise payments due, cross-references them against Stripe payments received in the last 24 hours, flags any unmatched or short payments, and posts a reconciliation digest to your finance Slack channel so discrepancies are caught and resolved before end of day.

In short

How can I reconcile option exercise payments from Stripe against my Carta cap table daily?

Every morning, WebRun collects expected option exercise payments from Carta and cross-references them against Stripe receipts from the last 24 hours. Matched payments are summarised and unmatched or short payments are flagged, all in a daily Slack digest for your finance team. Discrepancies are caught the same day they occur, before they compound.

  • Unmatched option exercise payments are flagged in Slack the same morning they occur
  • Matched payments are confirmed daily with no manual cross-referencing between Carta and Stripe
  • CFO and finance lead are tagged on discrepancies for same-day resolution

Questions, answered

Will it issue refunds or request additional payments from holders automatically?

No. WebRun only identifies discrepancies and posts them to Slack. All payment adjustments, refund requests, or follow-up collection actions are handled by your finance team after reviewing the digest.

What counts as an unmatched payment?

A Stripe payment is flagged as unmatched if WebRun cannot find a corresponding Carta exercise record for the same holder and amount within a 5% tolerance. A Carta exercise record is flagged if no Stripe payment is found within 24 hours of the exercise submission.

Can it handle partial exercise payments where a holder pays in instalments?

Yes. You can configure WebRun to allow partial matches up to a threshold you set. Partial payments are noted in the digest with the balance still outstanding rather than flagged as fully unmatched.
